Police made five arrests of alleged drug dealers living in Ansonia, Shelton and Derby. Ansonia police lead the investigation, with assistance from Shelton, Derby, Hamden and Naugatuck police departments and the New Haven Drug Enforcement Agency.
More arrests are expected, according to Lt. Wayne Williams of the Ansonia Police Department.
Search warrants served
The search warrants were served on July 2, at approximately 6 a.m. at 18 Howard Avenue, Ansonia; 43 Anson Street, Derby; 28 Kneen Street and 24 Brook Street, Shelton.
In addition to search warrants, officers were also serving arrest warrants relating to the sale of narcotics in the Valley. During the searches, narcotics, drug paraphernalia, money and weapons were seized.
Lester Arrington, 21, was taken into custody at 18 Howard Ave., Ansonia, and was charged with seven counts of possession of narcotics, seven counts of sale of narcotics, five counts of conspiracy to possession of narcotics and five counts of conspiracy to sale of narcotics. He was released on a $70,000 bond.
Antonio Torres, 43 Anson St., Derby, was arrested after several illegal firearms in addition to a large amount of drug packaging material and drug paraphernalia were allegedly found by officers at his residence.
Officers confiscated five firearms — specifically an assault weapon, a 9mm handgun, two shotguns and a rifle, also ammunition.
Torres was charged by the Derby Police Department with altering or removing identification marks on a firearm, illegal possession of an assault weapon, criminal negligent storage of a firearm, criminal possession of a pistol/revolver and risk of injury/impairing morals of a minor.
Roberto Cales, 22, of 28 Kneen St., Shelton, was taken into custody on two warrants for two counts of possession of narcotics and sale of narcotics, two counts of conspiracy to possession and sale of narcotics.
He posted a $20,000 bond. He was also charged by Shelton PD on two outstanding warrants, namely two counts each of possession of narcotics and sale of narcotics. He posted a $10,000 bond there.
Jennifer Hansberry (aka Jennifer Narducci) and John Richard, of 24 Brook St., Shelton, were arrested by Shelton Police after drugs and paraphernalia were allegedly found in the residence. Hansberry and Richard were charged with possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were held on a $5,000 bond.
An additional search warrant related to this investigation was served July 2 in Naugatuck. Drugs, paraphernalia and packaging were found, but no arrests were made, police reported.
On July 6, Ansonia Police arrested Reginald Rogers, 24, at 40 Columbia St., on related charges.
Rogers was arrested on five warrants and charged with five counts of possession of narcotics, five counts of sale of narcotics, five counts of conspiracy to possession of narcotics and five counts of conspiracy to sale of narcotics. He posted a $50,000 bond.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected, police said.
