Ansonia Mayor James DellaVolpe, Derby Mayor Anthony Staffieri and Seymour First Selectman W. Kurt Miller recently helped deliver Meals on Wheels as part of TEAM. Inc.’s Mayors For Meals Day.

The elected officials went out on a route and assisted with delivering meals to Meals on Wheels clients in their towns.

“We were excited about having the Mayors and First Selectmen from the Valley towns participate in our Mayors for Meals Day event,” said Suzanne Reilly, director of Family Support Services.” “Our Mayors and First Selectmen have been involved with our program in the past and the national Mayors For Meals Day is an excellent way to continue our relationship.”

The Derby and Shelton Adam’s (IGA) Supermarkets also provided support for the March for Meals month by selling “wheels” to support TEAM, Inc. Meals on Wheels programs.

Throughout the Valley, Meals on Wheels delivers a daily meal to homebound elderly residents. TEAM’s four drivers deliver to 214 clients per day.  Last year TEAM delivered 52,919 meals to 348 Meals on Wheels Clients in the Valley area.
