Rotary Club seeks sponsors for scholarship dinner

The Rotary Club of Seymour-Oxford will hold its fourth annual pasta and meatball dinner on Saturday, April 27, at Trinity Church in Seymour. Proceeds from the event will support the club’s college scholarship fund. Sponsors for this event are now being sought.
There are three levels of sponsorship available, ranging from $35 to $250. There are packages suitable for businesses and for personal messages honoring success or in memory of loved ones.
Event sponsorship forms are available by contacting the event chairman, Joyce Barcley, at jmb167@gmail.com or 203-881-0901. All sponsorship information, including graphic files, must be received by April 12.
Each year the Rotary Club receives numerous applications for its scholarship essay competition. However, as the economy has tightened, more and more applications are being received. Through this dinner and other fundraising, the Seymour-Oxford Rotary Club hopes to increase its scholarship fund enabling it to provide at least one scholarships for a student from each town.
Thanks to strong community support, the Seymour-Oxford Rotary Club Scholarship Fund at the Valley Community Foundation has reach maturity. As the fund grows, so will the annual disbursement for scholarships, assuring perpetual awards for the communities’ students. This combined with continued fundraising will increase the number and amount of awards the club can make.
Anyone may contribute to Rotary’s VCF Fund to help increase future scholarships for Seymour and Oxford students. Those wishing to contribute should contact the Valley Community Foundation at 203-751-9162 or online at valleyfoundation.org.
The Pasta and Meatball dinner is prepared and served by club members, their families and community volunteers. The three-course dinner’s price remains only $10 per person (children under 5 are free) and includes buttery garlic bread, tossed green salad and soft drink and a ziti entrée.
