UPDATE: The 19-year-old teen reported missing Tuesday has been located and is safe.

Ansonia police had requested assistance from local media in locating the teen. According to Lt. Andrew Cota the teen, Sylvester Waiters, saw news coverage of himself, which prompted him to call home and inform his family that he was safe.

TUESDAY: Ansonia Police are requesting the assistance of the local media in an attempt to locate a 19-year-old male who has been reported missing.  The male is identified as Sylvester Waiter, age 19 of 48 Francis Street Ansonia.

Waiter was last seen by his mother on Tuesday at approximately 12:30 p.m. after having an argument with her while in Stratford. Police said phone contact was made with Waiter at approximately 2 p.m. by Waiter’s mother, and Waiter made mention that he wanted his problems to end and she then she lost contact with him.

Officers have been trying to make phone contact with Waiter without any success. GPS tracking of his telephone showed him in the Ansonia area and the Bridgeport area throughout the day. There has been no contact with Waiters.

Sylvester Waiters was last seen wearing a red, white, and blue colored shirt, white baseball cap and blue jeans.  He is a black male and is 5 feet, 4 inches tall, weighs 125 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.

Ansonia Police are looking for assistance in locating Waiters to make sure he is safe and is not a danger to himself.

If anyone sees Waiters they are asked to call the Ansonia Police Department at 203-735-1885.
